I am asexual. the game is called "I would rather have cake". the colour scheme is purple and grayscale. how did I NOT notice the ace allegory?? 😂😂 I'm a bit dumb. great game! you either must have already known a lot about deserts, or done a lot of research :) also, the repeating lines of "it's cold in here" and "I need a cake", paired with the transition from 'someone' to 'Diana' was very touching! props to everyone on your team.
omgggggg it's so nice and gay and bittersweet
i can't open the game :(
I often bake as a hobby, so I deeply agree with her understanding of desserts and different flavors, and the baking process can bring more happiness than the dessert itself. ´◡`
playing this felt like actually being in a cold freezer-like environment, the immersiveness is incredible!! im excited to see where this team goes next ❤️ (horror advent calendar is on my to-play list im hyped!)
Really sweet (no pun intended)!!
I loved the ace allegory and all the different descriptions of the cakes <3 The art is also lovely, Diana is very pretty!!
I'm finally getting around to making my way through the O2A2 entries, and I'm glad I did because this was a great experience to play. The dense writing didn't make this feel short at all and you used the limited assets so well that it doesn't feel like anything was constrained or limited.
The writing for the characters is excellent - you get a great sense of the pâtissier's personality and the way it entwines with her passion for baking rather than making the baking feel like superficial set dressing. I also enjoy the sense of gradual progression without sudden twists or dramatics. It's just a quiet glimpse into someone's life.
I also love the art, especially the little animated puff of air. It really makes the cool workshop come to life.
The UI is extremely fitting and the musix-track is well-chosen as well. Amazing work overall!
A wonderful story accompanied by a wonderful message. Made for a brief but effective moment of heartfelt immersion through its storytelling, visuals, and tasteful (pun intended) introspection for its audience. UI is clean, music offers warmth, writing is splendid and I love the art style for Diana.
Really lovely short experience; the visuals are gorgeous. The animations were a nice touch, and the UI looks very clean. Everybody involved did a great job!
thank you so much! we've run through eight different versions of the UI so it's very important for us hehe
LOVED this ui right off the bat, very inspiring deconstruction of the typical textbox/frame formatting.
i didn't pick up on it being a metaphor for asexuality until i read other comments here, but replaying through that lens really does add a new charm to the story! and the subtle nod to that context through the colour palette too is really smart and well-executed.
overall a super cute little game! :- ) 🍰
This was such an amazing game I really loved it !! I love the asexual analogy, the color palette and the character's pose/drawing and the dialogues were really lovely.
I love all the details about the cakes it was interesting, the character really do love baking sweets haha ! It makes me want to know more about both of them ^^
omg the visual composition of the game is so amazing... the usage & thought of the color palette is great too, the artstyle, everything visual was (haha) chefs kiss. I really liked Diana's character too, she came across as very thoughtful and interesting to converse with!! i really liked her explanations about flavors especially the matcha conversation, I hope she got her steak hahakfdsf. it also made me hungry and i want to bake some chocolate cake now, lol
thank you for playing!
well, there's one interpretation of the myth: that the nymph Callisto and the goddess Diana did end up eating steak together despite Diana being one of three goddesses immune to Venus' charms... make of it what you wish!
This was a really nice, short and enjoyable visual novel. Now I want to try baking my own cake.
ohhhh, a let's play! thank you, we're very honored!
You're welcome :)
This was so enjoyable!! Hearing the descriptions for the cake flavours made me really crave some. I paused playing halfway through to send my friends a message about it saying "i love this patissier info dumping cake knowledge on me" (partially in an effort to get them to play it too... and for them to send me their own cake facts). I found her passion for baking endearing and the aro allegory wonderfully executed!!
The colour palette and UI is super appealing too :D I loved it
thank you! cake trivia tastes as sweet as cakes themselves <3
OHH I love this. the art, the layout, it looks all so good together. it has a very elegant but simple feel. and the writing and the details about the different flavors is so nice, giving it a sweet touch
thank you for playing!
Hi! This was a really sweet take on the ace experience, I enjoyed it a lot! Seeing Diana being able to comfort Callisto without denying who she is (that she doesn't like eating cakes)... it felt good. So thank you.
The game was also very pretty: and although I hate the colours of the ace flag, the artist managed to make them work perfectly! The GUI was also very pleasing to look at. The music track was also carefully picked, and it really matched the game's atmosphere.
This game really felt like a parenthesis in time. A memory, that you remember fondly, although it has started to fade away. But no matter how little you remember (or how cold the baker shop was)... it feels warm.
Thank you!
Some of our devs share your ace flag colour opinion, others know the secret technique: i just colour the purple using a more grayish subtle tone ;3
And thank you very much again!!
the limited color palette evoking [and, in ways, outright stating] the asexual themes of this little game was perfect. everything about this vn is simplistic and quaint yet elegant. i really liked this entry!
Thank you!
Oh, gosh, I loved this so much 😭💕
THIS IS AN ACE ALLEGORY CORRECT??
Lmao it feels perhaps obvious because of the colors and cakes and Diana talking about how she likes baking but not eating the cakes BUT SOMETIMES I'M A LITTLE BIT OBTUSE SO I JUST WANTED TO CONFIRM I AM CORRECT AND MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE I'M NOT BARKING UP THE WRONG CAKE LAKDJFLAKDSF
At any rate though I got a lot of feels from this. I loved the art for Diana's sprite -- especially her expressions and the little animation for her breath because of the cold??? It felt really sweet somehow. And juxtaposed with the color scheme and the simple gray background and layout, it just had this poignant feeling of nostalgia and warmth to it (DESPITE THE COLDNESS OF THE BAKERY LOL). Could also be ascribed potentially to all the sweets talk. I must admit it made me hungry, especially the matcha cake one as those are some of my favs GUH.
I played through and got both endings and tried out all the different options so I could see all the little details! Just really lovely. I enjoyed this so much 💕
this is an ace allegory! tysm for your kind words
(i heavily recommend just one cookbook recipe for matcha gateau au chocolat if you're a matcha fan btw!!)
Playing this was very much like being immersed in a slice-of-life anime, which is to say, it gave me that same sort of familiar and comforting feeling I associate with the best of those.
It also made me quite hungry, so I'll be sure to have a bowl of strawberries handy for my next play-through.
Thank you!
Yeah, that's a sweet and healthy idea, have a nice meal <3
This little story was nice as heck; really love this patissier being so poetic about such mundane things as flavors in a cake!! Delightful to read through such dramatic interpretations of such things!!! And..... greatly appreciate the light bittersweetness of the endings. Thank you for making this!!
thank you for playing this!!
